Attending Mass - Important Information
A Message from Father Neil
The Sunday Obligation is restored with effect from the First Sunday of Advent (28th November 2021) .
What is the Sunday Obligation? All Catholics are bound to attend Holy Mass and worship the Lord in the Eucharistic Sacrifice on the day of the Lord’s Resurrection (or at the Vigil) and also Holy Days of Obligation throughout the year, unless for serious reason. Obviously common sense should be used but a general rule of thumb is, if one can go the supermarket, for a pint or to bingo, then one can worship the Lord in Holy Mass alongside one’s brothers and sisters. Amen! The Bishops have published ‘Honouring Sunday’ concerning the Obligation which you can read below.
All Masses are open to attendance – please continue to wear a face covering in church as a simple act of charity and kindness to others, particularly the vulnerable elderly and young.
